Santa Clarita Diet
In the Netflix original show Santa Clarita Diet it exemplifies fear and anxiety. The show is about the mother Sheila she has this weird bug inside her and she starts projectile vomiting everywhere causing a scene they soon find out what’s wrong with her and she is announced dead but still alive she is a zombie. Everyone is terrified of her because they’ve never seen anything like her people don’t know what to do because she appears like a normal human but on the inside she is craving flesh from every body around. Once the word got out that she is a zombie and she has been eating people then hurrying them in her backyard people start to get anxious and start worrying thinking that they’re next in line. In my final project I am going to emulate the anxiety and fears people face because of sheila being a zombie. People didn’t think zombies were real until they found out that they were living next to one. Im going to expand of the fears and anxiety people are facing because of her traits and change the society outlooks on expectation vs reality. In the show I like how they used modern day reality and culture but added a twist and made the main character a zombie even though she acted like a normal person throughout the whole show and the only people know noticed she was different were people that were close with her it put everything on edge and made it more easy to relate to because it was in my time period. I didn’t like how a lot of people knew she was a zombie including her family in my adaptation I am changing it so only she knows that she is a zombie no one else has a clue. I feel like I should change these things because then as the storyline goes on everyone else is slowly turning into zombies as well but they just don’t tell each other until the end when it leaves everyone wondering. Changing the setting in this show would have a different spin on reality because back in the 90s people thought differently of zombies there were different theories about it then there are now so people would react differently. I am changing some of the characters and having them become zombies as well even though they don’t know that they are all zombies in the end. Adding a sequel to this would make it more exciting because I could add twist and turns to the end of the storyline then in the sequel have them turn out completely different then expected. People would not think a lot of the characters were going to turn out the way that they do and it will have everyone on their feet wanting more. My adaptation would add a lot to the show and make the show able to address more moral questions such as how everyone is different but the same in all sorts of ways and people are afraid to show their true self until they realize so many other people are like them as well.It can also deal with politics and democracy and what happens when everyone around them is slowly turning into zombies how the government is going to handle it. I want the audience to take away many morals from my adaptation, everyone is different but in their own ways in today’s society we feel as though it is right for people to be judged on how people see, on the outside but no one really takes the time to get to know people well enough before they judge them. In this version I am changing the characters to all eventually turn into zombies but they all don’t realize that they are they only think that they are the only ones. When in reality when they all figure out that they are all the same even though they see, totally normal on the outside they are all going through the same thing at once. I think this social issue needs to be addressed because I don’t think stereotyping people based on their appearance is right to do. I hope people will take a second to get to know who people are deep down before they make a judgement after reading this adaptation. I’m leaving it in the audiences hands and the mystery still lies. |
